Crabbing

I spent most of friday and sat morning crabbing with cages off the public dock in Bandon. Even left the cages in overnight. One keeper and a sunburn. The meat was really soft. I'll wait till october or november to go out again

We crabbed for the first time in the ocean last Sunday out of Garibaldi and got 9 nice size keepers. They were a bit soft shelled, but not too bad. Been a long time since we had some crab at home. Quit crabbing last year when it went to "pot". Happy to get the crab, as we didn't come home with any salmon. Hopefully, the bays will have some crab as well. I've been seeing more crabbing activity in Tillamook Bay lately. Must be getting something :-)

Been hearing good things about crabbing in Tillamook Bay. A guy bought my old boat and headed out to "crab harbor" the same day. He harvested 2 limits that day and another the next day.
Sounds like I had better get out there again. Haven't crabbed in the bay for almost a year.
Be nice to get some of that crab meat again. Keeps the wife happy.

Wow it would be soooo cool to live in an area that you can just go out and do that. Cool post

Crabbing was good in the Columbia this last weekend. 2 Coho in the box, and 10 crabs to go with them.
Nice.
Would have been "profitable" had it not been for the salmon rod that flipped over the side while pulling a crab pot. It didn't "float". One nice rod/reel/line/flasher/diver/spinner gone. Ouch. The crab wasn't quite as "sweet".
