Landmine is infamous around these parts
Scouting trip

Two friends and I spent the weekend scouting for elk and to see the area we plan to hunt. There is an abundant amount of vegetation however the elk seem to still be at lower elevation than where we were at. The alfalfa seems to win out over grasses. We did glass 4 bear. 3 black and 1 tan all on the same patch of grass about a mile away. We located a couple bucks (one had a droptine), and many doe. And too many cattle to count. It was a great weekend.

Good observation Landmine..... Cows should be low in open grassy areas calving while bulls should be grouped up either moving up with the grasses to the high country or moving low towards the open range to avoid and defend against predators!

Some ranchers and elk nuts I have been listening to seem to think elk are moving more towards lower elevations back to the plains where they can defend against predators due to the rapidly rising trend of bears, cats, coyote packs and wolves.

Hint Hint - may be who of us to scout low and watch boundries near private land offering feed, protection and most of all LACK OF PRESSURE!!!

Good scouting - you'll find em'....

Troy,
Thanks for the tips. I did see the PTO Jeep on Greenwood this evening over by pilot butte. It needs more dirt on it.

I stopped by norco and purchased the last box of those latex finger covers for the DTS bugle. Once I get it figured out I think I'll purchase a second mouth piece from Cent Wise.
